This post summarizes our thoughts and some of our concerns with the preliminary plans forming in the Pagle AQ Gates Discord. Please know that this is simply the opinion of Celestial Born as of March 2020 and that we welcome discussion moving forward.
Only One May Rise
We firmly believe that the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline to become a Scarab Lord is a race. We would rather not see one of World of Warcraft’s most legendary questlines and measures of competitive guild-level collaboration turn into a waiting game to mass generate mounts. Given Pagle’s population, we have a rare opportunity as a community to be one of the first servers in the world to open the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj and progress through AQ40. Additionally, delaying the opening of the AQ gates by weeks or even months will create a dynamic that is extremely subject to volatility and inter-guild drama. Someone will ring the gong early. We would rather plan around a race that concludes at the earliest possible moment rather than have to predict when someone will inevitably break the agreements soon to be made by our server’s guild leaders (and possibly miss the serverwide event / burn PTO to no end).
It is the explicit preference of Celestial Born that the opening of the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj occurs as soon as physically possible – we strongly prefer a predictable, reliable event rather than a political waiting game as more and more guilds complete their scepters and itch to ring the gong when it best fits their agendas/raid schedules.
Given our guild’s playerbase and guild type, please note that it is unlikely that we:
(a) have a player capable or willing to commit the time to grind it out period, let alone quickly
(b) are able to outpace or match the pace of large guilds
Therefore, at this time, whatever you all decide, we will follow.
Thank you for reading and we wish you all the best of luck in your quest to form the Scepter of the Shifting Sands. If in the coming months we are able to nominate a champion to pursue the quest with, we will be sure to let the guild leadership of Pagle know and communicate how we wish to proceed.
